Girl Guides

About

Guiding is a global movement aimed at empowering girls and women of all ages, and from all walks of life. The Girl Guide movement has its roots in Scouting, and thus similarly aims to develop Guides into responsible role models that strive to make a difference in their communities, nations and even the world.

SJC Girl Guides began in 2003, and has since grown in numbers and leadership competencies, becoming a success story of a student-led CCA. During our CCA sessions, through our Five Point Programme and Proficiency Badges, we holistically develop Guides’ personal skills so that they are well-equipped to lend a helping hand at home, in their community and abroad.

Objectives

• To provide girls and young women with the opportunity to grow and to lead

• To cultivate a serving heart and mind to the community

• To maximise the potential of Girl Guides to become responsible global citizens

Activities

• Proficiency badges (e.g. Artist, Craft, Entertainer, Knotter, Language of the Deaf)

• Basic First Aid Training

• Foot drills

• Outdoor cooking

• Camp craft & gadget making

• Pitching of 6-man canvas tent

• VIA Partnership with Sree Narayana Mission

• Sale of Girl Guide cookies

• Total Defence Badges (Gold, Silver, Bronze)

• Annual overnight camp and campfire in Camp Christine

• Annual World Thinking Day Celebrations

• Annual North Division Day Fest

• Biennial Outdoor Challenge

• Biennial Wee Kim Wee Outdoor Cooking Challenge

• Yeoman service for school and HQ events (e.g. Chinese New Year, Urban Run, CCA Carnival, National Day Parade Segment, World Thinking Day Celebrations, etc.)

Schedule       
Thursday: 3.45 pm – 6.15 pm
*Additional Wednesday session for leaders in Semester 1 only.
